Lori DitoroWebinar: Hybrid Architectures for Commercial Vehicles
June 25, 2026 9:00 am - June 25, 2026 10:00:00 CT
How axial flux motors are shifting these systems and providing more range, smoother operation, and decreased cost per mile.
Original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are being tasked to decrease fuel use and tailpipe emissions on routes where fast charging is limited or unavailable, expensive, or operationally disruptive. The core engineering decision is not hybrid or not, but where and how to blend mechanical and electrical torque so the vehicle meets the torque required for different operations, transient response targets, and range requirements while staying within tight envelopes for mass, volume, cooling, and serviceability.
In this webinar, Head of Product, Performance Motors, Matrishvan Raval discussed the many benefits of using axial flux motors including:
- Fitting into space-constrained applications
- High torque density
- Efficiency gains such as regeneration, engine downsizing/down speeding, idle elimination
- Decreased fuel use
- Smoother power blending between the engine and the motor
- Low cogging torque
