Turntide Shines in First SEMA Show
SEMA Show 2025, November 4 through November 7, 2025, was a first for the Turntide team. We were pleased to be exhibiting in the Electric Vehicle (EV) and Future Propulsion are right beside the FUTURETECH Studio.
Fireside Chat: Axial Flux Motors in Off-Road Applications
On Day 1, Jason Glass, sales director for Turntide Technologies, moderated a fireside chat on the FUTURETECH Studio stage. Matt Deeley, EV technologist for Current Electric Vehicles; Brian Dilley, CEO and cofounder of Current Electric Vehicles; Jake Hawksworth CEO for Hypercraft; Kurtis Horner, vice president of engineering for Meyers Manx; Gregg “Snow” Snowden, public relations and sales manager for Current Electric Vehicles joined Jason on the stage to discuss the benefits of axial flux motors in the off-road racing vertical. These benefits include high torque density, light weight, and a small footprint.

SEMA Live
During the SEMA Show 2025, Jason Glass, sales director for Turntide Technologies, was featured in the Day 4 SEMA Live video. Jason discussed the Sierra Car and Turntide’s partnership with Hypercraft in building the car. The car and the axial flux motors were extremely popular with attendees during the event. Check out the video to see the car and learn more about how axial flux motors are ideal for powersports and recreational vehicles.
SEMA Show Industry Trends
The energy and excitement around the show was unmatched and contagious. Among the many trends was the move toward electric and hybrid powertrains.
According to Jason Glass, sales director for Turntide Technologies, hybrid drivetrains are coming to hotrods. Blazin Rodz had an advanced version using axial flux motors and Raeon (based in the U.K.) batteries.
Volkswagen/Porsche brand vehicles are still an extremely hot market for resto-mod electrification.
Jason said, “Our line is perfect for resto-mod shops either matching the vintage power or using our larger motors for a high-performance version.”
Globally, axial flux motor technology is being recognized as the compact power producing magic machine. “That small of a package can make that much power?” was a common question as SEMA Show attendees saw the motor at the booth and the smaller motor installed on the Sierra car featured in the FUTURETECH Studio.

Nathan Martinez, applications engineer for Turntide, shared these trends:
- We saw a lot of interest in electronic drivetrains, especially an off-the-shelf solution for commercial and retail.
- EV conversions and conversion kits are taking over retail and small and medium size businesses, which may lead to a larger scale in the coming years.
- People we talked with believe axial flux motor technology is the future. They have heard of the technology but understand that ours has broader applications.
