Truck manufacturers are tasked to decrease fuel use and tailpipe emissions on routes where fast charging is limited or unavailable, expensive, or operationally disruptive. Core decisions are not hybrid or not, but where and how to blend mechanical and electrical torque to meet the requirements for different operations, transient response targets, and range requirements while staying within tight envelopes for mass, volume, cooling, and serviceability. Manufacturers also have to keep fleet owners satisfied with low costs per mile.

In this webinar, Turntide Head of Product, EDUs & Hybrid Systems, Jason Glass, and Turntide Head of Product, Axial Flux Motors, Matrishvan Raval will discuss the benefits of axial flux motors and flexible inverter technology in hybrid systems including:

  • Fitting space-constrained applications
  • High torque density
  • Efficiency in regeneration, engine downsizing/down speeding, idle elimination
  • Decreased fuel usage
  • Smoother power blending
  • Low cogging torque
